Concussion

ConcussionConcussions can occur in any situation.  Our brains are like a hard jello-like substance, suspended in a fluid (cerebral fluild) and encased in a hard shell (our skull).  Any sudden or sustained impact can cause our brain to impact our skull causing damage from mild to severe.  You do not have to be knocked out (go un conscience) or have anything broken or bleeding to suffer the effects of a concussion.

As defined by Wikipedia “Concussion, from the Latin concutere (“to shake violently”)[1] or concussus (“action of striking together”),[2] is the most common type of traumatic brain injury. The terms mild brain injury, mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), mild head injury (MHI), minor head trauma, and concussion may be used interchangeably,[3][4] although the last is often treated as a narrower category.[5]Although the term “concussion” is still used in sports literature as interchangeable with “MHI” or “MTBI”, the general clinical medical literature now uses “MTBI” instead.[6] In this article, “concussion” and “MTBI” are used interchangeably. Frequently defined as a head injury with a temporary loss of brain function, concussion causes a variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms, which may not be recognized if subtle.”

No matter how you define a concussion from mild to severe, when dysfunction occurs, life can become more and more difficult to navigate from concentration, focus, processing, anger management, vision issues and many other neurological disorders.  The difficulty is if nothing is broken or bleeding most doctors will say there is not much we can do for you.  At the Harmonized Brain Center we work with many clients who have suffered a brain injury many years prior to finding our office.  We specialize in LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback Systems) therapy and have been very successful in helping our clients with concussion type injuries, from mild to Concussion with soccer ballsevere. Our brains are remarkable and our body will do everything it can to protect this vital organ.  But when this organ is injured, it will do everthing it can to readjust and protect itself.  The problem when this occurs the brain will be in a protection mode and therefore not operate as efficiently as it wants.  With LENS we can help the brain self-regulate and operate as efficiently as the brain can be.

We Believe A Harmonized Brain Equals A Harmonized Life.
