Stress

Stress, from a medical standpoint, is defined as a body's response to any demand or challenge, whether physical, emotional, or psychological. It triggers a biological reaction involving the release of hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, which prepare the body to respond to perceived threats, commonly known as the "fight-or-flight" response. While stress is a natural and sometimes beneficial response, chronic stress can negatively impact health, potentially leading to conditions such as heart disease, depression, and anxiety disorders. The understanding of stress in medicine emphasizes the balance between short-term stress-responses that help individuals manage acute challenges, and long-term stress that might necessitate intervention and management strategies.

The ten most common symptoms of stress include muscle tension, headaches, changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, fatigue, irritability or mood swings, difficulty concentrating, rapid heartbeat, upset stomach, and a weakened immune system. These symptoms can fluctuate in severity and duration, influencing various aspects of an individual's physical and mental health. Recognizing the signs of stress early on and adopting effective coping strategies is crucial for maintaining overall well-being and preventing the escalation of stress into more severe health issues.

Living with stress especially long term stress can lead to an unfocused, chaotic and under performing brain can leave you feeling helpless and overwhelmed. Life doesn’t have to be so difficult.
